Crashes often
Crashes often
Standard Dragon Quest RPG with turn based battles and 3D environment. If youre an RPG fan, may be worth picking up :) My main concerns about buying this were around the quality of the port and features to make it easier to play on the phone, so Ill talk about that. Im about 12 hours in. The virtual joystick for 3D motion was very well done, and it can be used with either thumb. Camera controls are OK but not something you need ALL the time so its fine. Menus are definitely optimized for mobile and work well. I havent felt like anything is cramped for space playing it on an iPhone 6 (the small one). Im pleasantly surprised at how well this game runs on mobile. In addition to the original limited save options, they have added a quick save which can be used when not in town, and a fairly frequent auto save. When you want to save and stop you may have to quickly finish a battle or run outside, but generally saving is not too far away if you have to do so. I remember seeing some reviews complaining about cutscenes - just wanted to say that at 12 hours I havent encountered any scenes without visible dialogue. Also, there is background music. Only one crash so far, seems pretty stable.
Would you like to increase the special function increase attack or money FINAL FANTASY Ⅸ do?
A great game, and a workable port. This from a fan of the American PS2 version. One problem, the game shuts down on its own from time to time. Fix that, and youll get 5 stars from me.
Im going to make this simple.. Include every game element that was available in DQ8 for PlayStation 2 in here especially sounds and MUSIC!! I want the game to sound exactly as it did when I turn on my PS2 and hear the sounds of those horns playing and the sounds of the symphonic music playing! Also we need wireless controller support and landscape view. I think these new iPads are powerful enough to handle that now... Please get to it ASAP. Youll get five stars when I get what Ive asked for. Thank you...
Awkward controls on iPad makes it difficult to play and makes hands hurt by the position you are forced to use them (true for large hands). Desperately needs customizable controls to be played comfortably on an iPad, not iPhone optimized controls screen. Zero confidence that SE will make any updates for this title. Released 2 years ago and not a single update.
Since some of us has finished the game before can you some cheats like max skill points infinite health ... Etc It would be really helpful for post game
Some items are not available to make in alchemy pot.
This game is wonderful. Its just like the old PS2 game, minus the voice acting. I personally cant do the Chinese update due to space reasons. 1.7Gs is one big update. Other than that its a great game and I entirely recommend it.
This port is beautifully done. I love the portrait view instead of landscape. It makes it so much easier to play on the go. My first Dragon Quest game was the original Dragon Warrior. And this is the second DQ game Ive ever played. And this is amazing. On 5S & 6 it plays very smooth and I have it in the background often. My phone never seems to heat up and the battery doesnt drain fast while playing. This game will get a LOT of play time. Square-Enix: Please keep up porting these amazing games and keep them premium without IAP. Ill keep investing in them!
added support for korean.
Thanks for supporting traditional Chinese. Very happy to see that the developers are still maintaining this game.
This is almost exactly like the original. My copy for the ps2 was scratched and I couldnt play anymore and this brings back so many memories.
Everything with this game is really awesome EXCEPT 15 LOCKED FRAME-RATE !!!! I want to play this game at least 20~30 fps.
So waiting for this time. Thanks again.
2 years ... and waiting for the Spanish translation. :-(
Nice but hate that is only vertical. My hand gets tired Holden it like that all the time...
Please unlock the frame rate so people with more powerful devices can enjoy the game at a playable frame rate! Thanks!
I remember playing the original Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 and really enjoying it, but I no longer have it. So I figured Id try this version. Well... It wasnt immediate, but I encountered crashes often. It would be as soon as I would normally enter a battle, it would happen as I try to enter a building, heck it would even happen if I changed rooms! Anything with a screen transition would have a chance to crash the game. This honestly made me annoyed, and didnt find the game as enjoyable as I did when I played on the PS2. Not to mention the lack of voice acting and orchestrated music, but thats just me nitpicking. Either way. It got to the point where I personally didnt find it to be rather playable. Not pleased with this at all.
